The transmission is the problem and when the car is on a small hill or speed bump it revs the engine only and no go. The cars rpm's will go way up and it will barely move or i have to get out and push it to make it over the smallest of enclines. What should i check first?

 

your tranny is dead!
i would check your tool box and get a 3/8 ratchet,9/16 socket,4'extension,15mm box wrench,7/16 open end,15mm socket and pull that tranny/converter out bring to a reputable tranny shop and have it rebuilt!

 

It drives fine in drive but reverse is the almost gone.
