Question Car backfires when reving

Well, I am not complaining about it that much because i dont really rev my engine up. But when i do rev it up it has a few small backfires to it.

What could cause this? Right now i have a stock exhaust except for a turbo muffler.

Thanks

Leak in the exhaust somewhere? My leaking manifolds backfired bad. Intake leak? Coil Wire? (Does your Amp gauge move / lights dim ?)

Well, I do have a torn intake elbow, and plan on buying a new one soon. I also have a leak in my intake somewhere.

It is pretty loud hissing sound. It seems like it is coming from the area where in the front of the intake where the little bar seems like it connecting the 2 fuel rails.

Anyway Could this be causing my backfire(s)? And is it bad for performance or the engine.

I probably will have to replace my intake manifold huh?

Is it backfiring as you rev it up or after you let off?

Most likely an exhaust leak.

What about performance? Will having an exhaust leak that will cause the exhaust to pop and backfire when after reving rob my engine of that much power?

Something else I just thought of.... When mine did it really bad...the EGR Tube was broken off! It was not only leaking exhaust..it was pulling air into the intake from the outside.

Well the past few weeks i have been getting a SES code that was for the EGR. I found that a hose had been disconnected and so i reconnected it. The SES code still came on for a few times after that, but it has not came on in about 4 days now.

So, do you think there could still be a problem with my EGR assembly?

I will have to check it all out tomorow.
