Re: car is back on the road with 847 and ported heads

When you say single plane do you mean carb. and not fuel injected? 400 plus at the wheels is nice. I hope I'll be able to hit around 400 but I'm not getting my hopes up a bunch. It feels really strong since I readjusted the valves though. Let me know when you go If I dont have my truck ready to pull the car up there my buddy says I can borrow his truck. And I have to figure out how to get the car on the trailer since I lowered it I have to make longer ramps or something. Later

Re: car is back on the road with 847 and ported heads

Ok I said before I thought I was floating the valves at high rpms but now I've narrowed it down to it only does it shifting from 2nd to 3rd gear. So it could possibly be the transimission hesitating to shift or I'm hitting the rev limiter but thats at 7000 I think I can say for sure that its not valve float though or it should do it from 1st to 2nd also you would think. Anyone else have this problem. with no traction in first gear and spinning through second and pulling most of the 1/4 in drive i'm still able to hit 110 throught the 1/4 mile so I'm not dissapointed with it at all I just want to figure this problem out. wether its in my tuning, my transmission, or what it is. thanks to anyone that can help.

is it staying in the upper rpm range for long enough in first gear for you to even tell its happening?

Well I'm not sure because its usually spinning when I shift from 1st to 2nd? altjar says that I'm way to marginal with the 987 springs, and said he will help me get all the right parts for the kmotion 800 springs if I need to but I want to make sure thats whats wrong before I go spending the money on springs.

Well I'm for sure that its valve float now, altjar showed me the formula for finding my spring pressures and I dont have enough open pressure for the cam also I have .595" lift and the springs are only good for .600" so I'm in the process of getting the springs now. I also ordered a jegs torque arm to help plant the tires so hopefully within a month I'll have dyno#'s and 1/4 times.
