Canton Oil pan question

I know you can take out the stock oil pan with the engine in the car, put could I install Canton with the engine in the car? I wasnt able to install a windage tray because of my 383 setup and I ran out of funds (stupid i know) but know that I got the money Im just trying to figure out the easiest way to do it. Has anyone tried dropping the cradle and supporting the motor from above?

I have taken my canton out and put it back in a couple times with the engine in the car yet. I just drop the K-frame and support the engine with my hoist. When you install the canton, put it in without a gasket once and turn it over by hand. More than likely you will need to clearance the scraper. Also watch the gasket, I have to trim the flange where the rod bolts pass.

make sure you only put 6 quarts of oil in the system(5qts in pan, 1qt for the oil filter, if using a full quart filter). oil level will be on the bottom twist of the dip stick. don't put 8 in like i did....especilly with a 383.....
