Well, I cannot get this pan to seal up. I had my buddy try to make it fit better but it is way out of whack at the rear of the pan. I'll be sending it back for either another one or might be switching brands.

Man thats no good. I have read more than an acceptable amount of threads with Canton fitment issues whether it be the pan or the valve covers.

Guess you can give the Moroso or the Milodon pan a try.

GreenZ,
Do you have the bypass in the oil filter adapter purposely plugged up? I do on mine to force all oil through the filter all the time.

I have been talking to some engineers and they think its possible that when the RPMs hit the 5.5K point, the oil pump momentarily hits a point where it cant really push the oil any further and it cavitates for a split second then recovers. If the bypass were functional, it could possibly bleed off a bit to keep the pressure from hitting the wall, in theory.

I am going to replace my plugged adapter with a new one with the bypass functional just to try it out since that would be an easy 15 minute job.

Yesterday I was on the interstate at ~70 MPH and punched it in 3rd gear and saw the drop as usual. There is no way the g-forces in 3rd gear should be enough to uncover the oil pickup IMHO.

Anyone else thinks this might be plausable?

Looking at the second pic by the OP.

Are the corners welded now? Mine split there and now i need to patch it up. Canton gasket, factory torque spec on bolts.

My pan has never sealed. Used felpro gaskets, waited a month once for a canton gasket. Always leaked at the rear. Pinching gaskets and splitting the pan. I can never recommend them.

Nope, I don't have the bypass plugged.

I got my Moroso pan and pickup today and i'm impressed with how it looks. The Moroso and Canton pan are very similar in design.

I have heard that the Moroso is a knockoff of the canton. Moroso being part of a bigger company, might have tighter QC.
If you have the time, please post pics of it also.

Pan is installed! I'm letting the RTV dry overnight before starting it. I had to modify the pan a bit to get the pickup to fit, but overall I am happy with the fit.

I still have a major oil leak! I think it may be my rear main that blew out. But on the short test run that I took, it appears that my oil pressure problem is fixed. I'm going to fix the oil leak before I do any more testing.

So the Moroso fit properly afterall?

So thats a good sign that the pressure drop problem may be fixed. Hurry up and get the seal fixed so I will know for sure.

I have looked and looked and I still cant find a good answer as to why the stock oil pan all of a sudden is inadequate for my application and maybe yours.

The only logical thing is my bearing clearances are ~2.5 or so which is bigger than stock if we are going to go down the pan sucked dry road. I guess I just figure that if that were the case, it would be a more widespread problem fo others.

Good deal.
So the pan fixes the pressure drop problem for certain. I will now put this on my list of things to do this winter.
