Can't seperate them, How many bolt for bellhousing
At this very moment i'm doing my first work on my Lt1 engine package.
It's a complete LT1 with the T56 still attached.
Now, i wanted to seperate the tranny from the block and removed 6 bolts from the bellhousing.
I however do NOT know how many bolts are holding it as i can't lift the package and since it's sitting on a wooden pallet i cannot look underneath.
I assume there are just 6 bolts but i'm having a hard time pulling the tranny from the package (probably due to the foam underneath it for extra protection).
So the question is: Are there just 6 bolts holding the entire bellhousing to the engine block ???

6 bolts.
If the trans hasn't been off in a good while, it may take some effort to separate it. Also, if the motor was making a lot of torque, the dowel pins may have shifted slightly and will require you using a pry bar to separate the trans from the motor.

Thanks man !
There is a gap on the top side and it's clear that the bellhousing lost contact there, but the overal weight on that damn pallet with foam in between makes it kinda hard.
Going back to the shed and use some more elbow grease !

Got them seperated (about 1.5 inches) but it looks like it is stuck around the starter gear ..
Probably have to pull it back in a straight line but it's hard with that thing so low to the ground .....
Oh well, i'll just keep on trying

Cutch fork ?
Hm, i do have the actuator out (thing that presses on it).
But i assume that fork needs to be removed also ? I assume it's that housing on the driverside right ?

You have to remove the spacer for the "actuator" (Slides off of the two studs on driverside) than pull back on the clutch fork. The trans. should than come off.

I'm sorry for beating a dead horse but i have ALL the manuals, a LT1/LT4 rebuild guide and pretty much have seen quite a view 'How to' pages but i wasn't able to find a walk through.
Especially the manuals go into such great detail that i couldn't find this 'easy' task.
Oh well, i guess i'll learn no matter what
