Cool Any T-56 guys have some advice for me???

So my new engine is gonna turn my T-5 into a bunch of scrap the first time I try it out at the track, so I'm gonna swap to a T-56. I've been planning this for probably a year now and now I actually need to do this. So, what would you do if you were replacing a T5 in a thirdgen with a T56 from a 93-97 F-bod? The engine is pushing, well, we'll just say somewhere around 600 ft. lbs. of torque, and I haven't even put a power adder on yet. What should I do about gettin a T-56; start with a used core and rebuild it? Find a good one and just use it? Or is there a better aftermarket manual that will bolt in? What's my options here guys?
Also I'm gonna need a new clutch, my stock replacement one isn't going to hold up to what I'm gonna have, so what would/do you use?

My budget is around $3000, I'm sure I can get something pretty ****ing good for that.

Oh I already know I need a custom tranny cross member and driveshaft, but what about the bellhousing and hydralic clutch? I thoght the T5 and T56 bellhousings and clutch setups were different, but I don't know for sure.

Sorry for makin this long but hey, whatever.

Question

Joe,

remember the trans i mentioned to you with 6k on it, only needs the output shaft replaced, you could probably get the trans for 500, he also has the mcleod street twin with a couple of hundred miles on it for sale. out of a 96ss. d&D can repair for about 550, this includes the output shaft (300), viper 3/4 shift fork(50) (a must), and 200 for labor. let me know. you could have an awesome trans for no more than 1500. if you want while it is apart you could have the parts cryogenically frozen like i did for about 150. for what you plan on doing it is probably the way to go.

g'luck on deciding!
