can't get seals off! help

How do you pop out the opti seal and cam seal in the timing cover?? I've been trying to pry/pound them out and they won't budge.

Tapping them out from the rear of the cover should work. Maybe a dumb question, but did you put a few pieces of wood under the front of the cover and then try tapping them out? A small punch should do the job. Just keep tapping at various points around the seal.

Re: can't get seals off! help

I used a pipe and sockets that fit in the seals to pound them out.

Just flip the cover over and place it on 2 pieces of wood, as previously posted. Then find something that fits inside the seal (large socket/pipe) and hit it hard with a hammer.

They should come right out with no prying.

Thomas.

I used a seal puller and then the right seal installer to put them in.

I finally got them out. I did put wood behind it and tried to pound it out with a screw driver. I kept going around the seal tapping it. It was just stuck in there good. Thanks for the replies.
