So im on the way back from the track, after some bad passes and a starter crapping out. So we are on the way home and riding down the road and crusing about 2k all fine and peachy when everything shuts down. So im like what the hell, so whle im still rolling i try to start it back by rolling it off but no good. So i get to the side of the road and chack a few things, Fuses chaeck good, i got back to the fuel pump and the nitrous fuel pump wasnt working so i get it working (bad relay) no help. Well we get it home and im checking things, I had 42 psi fuel, spark going out of the coil, but pulled a spark plug wire and no spark. The car was running fine on motor then just died? I dont understand? I thought optis, went a lil at a time, not all at once? Is there anything else im missing? Do I just need to bite the bullet and pull the opti? Its getting spark to the opti, but nothing to the plugs? What gives? Is the opti the only option?

Re: Anybody ever had there opti just die?
Before mine crapped out, it would sometimes hesitate in the low rpms and occasionally not want to start right away as it should. Then one day I pulled out of my parking spot and it did the stumbling in the low rpms like it sometimes does and then just died and that was it. Replaced it with an accel and now it runs great.

Well I guess im just gonna have to bite it. I cant believe it the opti doesnt have maby 10k on it, never got wet and just dies. Dammit GM design.
Re: Anybody ever had there opti just die?
Welcome to the club unfortunately, mine just died on the weekend as well. About a week ago I started to have starting problems. Thought it might have been fuel but I just put in a new Racetronix last year. Coil and wires are fairly new as well. Car would crank strongly and just not fire. By pure luck I guess it fired up a couple of times when I held the peddle to the floor. When it did start the tach was all crazy before it finally settled down. Then started to miss at certain RPMS, just like a hiccup at first, but got worse. Sat. I was cruising on the highway and almost had like a couple of backfires along with the misses. Decided to high tail it home while I still could. About a mile from home I was cruising at steady speed, car seemed to be running fine and the same thing, it just quit completely. I managed to coast to the side of the road and I guess luck was with me, it fired up one more time. I got home and that was it, haven't been able to start it since. This opti had less than 10K on it. That's it, I'm going with the Dynatech.
I've heard rumours that ignition boxes like the MSD-6AL contiribute to frying optis. Has anyone else heard of this?
