can't get motor to come loose!

in my 94 LT1, 6 speed....

I can't get my motor to come loose from the tranny. I can pull the motor apart from the tranny about an inch, but it won't come all the way! What am I doing wrong?!?!?

Did you pull the clutch fork off the T/O bearing?

Well... here are some generic things to try.. (no personal experience here)

but... first I'd probably go around it all with a blowtorch... that should loosen things up...

Next I'd probably go for the rubber mallet, just tap it everywhere..

Hmm... Then maybe some WD40 or penetrating oil all around.

Whatever you do, DO NOT resort to prying it apart with a flathead screwdriver or something. Didn't say you couldnt WEDGE something in there... lol

Take the slave cylinder off, take the mounting cup off the two studs, grab the end of the fork and yank it hard toward the outside. The fork is held on the ball (which is bolted into the front plate of the tranny) by a couple of spring clips. It should pull out about an inch or so... as I faintly recall.....

Jesse, Are you trying to seperate the motor from the bell housing? If so there are 6 bolts, If they are all out take the slave off, pull on clutch fork, it will pull back a couple of inches when it comes off the TO Bearing. I just pulled my motor out that way and it seperated pretty easy.

I used a pair of plyers and it didn't take much to pull it off
