Can't decide, 355 vs ls6

I can't decide between the two, one day I want to go with a forged 355 lt1 with all the bells and whistles (cam, 4bolt main, porting, blah blah blah) or should I throw a ls6 into my car (97 m6 z28). both will be fed by the sts turbo kit, and both will give me the power I want.

you realize you've got a lot of other stuff that has to be swapped in to get an LS6 to work in your car right?

Hes right its no walk in the park to throw and ls6 into an lt1 car. And a build 355 would be able to handle lots more boost than a stock ls6.

Re: Can't decide, 355 vs ls6

unless you have some deep pockets I'd say the built 355 would be better. all the other stuff you'd have to swap would be really expensive plus I think the LS6 as a crate engine exceeds 10 grand by itself. plus a well built 355 would handle more boost than a stock LS6.

If I may ask, if you're thinking about a 355, why not a 383 to really open up some power?

not to sound like a d!ck but i think this is a newbie post. You always can tell, they have these plans to build these massive built motors that cost all this money and yet don't seem to know much about them.

Correct me if I am wrong, but if you put an LSX motor in a 93-97 F-body you also need to change the nose and hood beacuse the LSX motors are taller.

Its not the motor thats the problem its the air intake setup. It can easily be modified and allow you to keep your stock hood.

Re: Can't decide, 355 vs ls6

sorry, i thought the only thing needed for an ls6 swap was a new nose and hood (planed on replacing the front clip and putting a cowl hood on the car anyways), the front k-member, and a little jerry-rigging with the radiator to switch from reverse-cooled to the other direction. am i missing anything?

i didn't want the 383 b/c that and the 7 lbs of boost is just too much

a used ls6 in a junkyard is roughly 6 grand, i didn't plan on getting it direct from gm performance

i just figured that with the ls6 i would have more reliability and have room for more power if i ever wanted it.

not to sound like a smart-*** but yeah i guess you could say it's a newb question, but a question nonetheless, which i thought was the purpose of the forums, and is what makes this forum different from the "advanced tech" one, why you bustin my ***** when I see other ppl asking questions like "why wont my ses light go off and what does p0100 mean?, my car won't start, will these headers work with this exhaust?" sorry just feel a lil singled out

and even if it is a massive build, it's a build that's going to happen b/c the money is just accumulating right now (being in iraq has its pluses, like not being able to spend your own money, which is good for saving money) and plus if i didn't do something big then i just wasted money on the rear end i got
