Lifter to blame... need new ones

I have the comp r's and instead of listening to this damn noise in my motor every few runs at the track (the top of the lifter where the pushrod came off again, this is the 2nd lifter to do it) I am changing my lifters. I was wondering who has found some GOOD lifters that are GOOD for adjusting rr's while the car is running and also ones that are easy to find 0 lash with (comp r's were not). I have heard the morrels, anyone know where to buy them/if they are good?

thanks again

what power level do you need more than a stock replacement type lifter and what is the advantage of anything other than OEM? I have a somewhat mean cam, just want all the insurance I can get... and I ended up messing it up more =/

im thinking crane or morel stock replacements???

OEM lifters are great lifters, only thing worth it over that are Morel's. They are pricey but are the best out there.

Re: Lifter to blame... need new ones

thanks everyone for the help! got me some stock GMPP replacements... anyone have any advice on how to not over-load or under-load finding 0 lash? I do it w/ the motor running and wait for no clacking, then add the prelash. This is my 2nd lifter to go bad, but at least each time it was only 1 lifter at a time... enough to make me never want to buy comp again though =/

If they are stock replacement style lifters you'll want to run more than 0 lash.

run the r's at zero lash and youll be fine, all the failures are from people with too much preload, the r's are very sensitive to adjustments, and if you lash them like an oem, youll pretty much bottom out the plunger, hence all these failures

You are right, but new style comp Rs are really junk.. Off course preload shouldn't be like OEMs .. My preload is 1/16, but I think this is not only about preload.. There is something wrong with new style I'm sure.. All the people who have not a problem with R lifters, use the OLD style R not new style..

Its funny because there are experienced people like Brett saying these things are junk and you should run them, yet there are plenty of people here who think they can. You dodged a bullet for 4k miles, why risk it again.

Re: Lifter to blame... need new ones

because the reason they fail is from too much lifter preload, or INCORRECT lashing, if they are lashed correctly, that clip that usually fails WILL NOT see any undue stress...therefore will not break, they are only breaking because people are not lashing them correctly

Don't type Bret's with 2 "t" He become angry lol

Maybe you got old style one because you used them for 4000 miles and its not a short time I guess..
