i know a guy who just threw 3 rods through his block in his 99 ram air Trans Am. if i could talk him into selling me the rolling chassis for a few grand, i've got a wrecked 94 Z sitting in my garage with a good motor and m6, i could have a sharp lookin car and still have the monster of an LT1 under the hood. would this setup just bolt in and work with the OBD1 and stuff that comes off my 94?
and vice versa...say a complete LS1 engine and tranny just fell out of the sky and dropped right in my back yard ...could i put this set up in a 94Z or 97Z?

you can do anything with enough fabrication, nitrous a hammer an duct tape.

it wont bolt right in though.

you wouldn't happen to know what type of things would be needed would you?
my guess was that the motor mounts may not match up and the computer may not work the electronics correctly.
if it's not gonna cost me extra money to, i think it would be fun to do. i'm sure i could fabricate something for motor mounts if that's all it is.

wait a second...couldn't i just use the motor mounts off the 94?
i realize the transmission is different but it is my understanding that it's different so it will bolt to the engine. i mean, the chassis is the same all the way from 93-02 right?

i know people convert from obd2 to obd1. in essense, wouldn't that be what i'm doing as far as the computer goes?
if the computer and electronics all work fine, then i think this would be a nice little project.
and by the way, i really appreciate your input trey, thanks.
Michael.

no no no, i must not have made myself clear. i didn't mean to hook an ls1 computer up to my lt1 engine. i've got the lt1 computer still in my 94 Z. i was wondering if i put the lt1 engine and tranny in an ls1 car, would the lt1 computer plug in and work fine. am i clear now?

Drop the k-member from the 6 speed car and bolt it to the LS1 car, and be done with it.

You could always switch the LT1 to coil packs etc I would be more interested to see an LS1 in a 93-97 car Definately would be an interesting combination.

yeah i agree, that would be pretty interesting. that would be pricey considering the going rates of LS1 engines right now, but i do think i like the style of the lt1 camaro better than the ls1 camaro.

You would also have to rewire the car, not the brake lights and such obviously but you will have to splice into the harness with your LT1 harness, wiring IMO is the worst part of a swap. You will also have to either swap the fuel pump or figure out how to use it, keeping in mind they run 58-60 PSI and LT1s expect to see 43.5ish.

thank you, this is the information i was looking for...about the wiring and stuff. i will be sure to never attempt to put an ls1 in an lt1 car or a lt1 in an ls1
thank you again, that pretty well sums up everything.
Michael.

i've got an lt1 t56 to bolt in with the motor but i don't want to get into wiring mess so i'll probably just kick this idea to the curb. i like my current car enough that i'll just have to work harder so i can pay for it. the only thing i'd trade this car for is a c5!...or that concept 2002 ZL1 Camaro...
