can someone help me pick the right piston for 11.5 c/r
can someone help me pick the right piston for 11.5 c/r
im building a 383 and i need to know the cc of the piston i need to get 11.5 c/r. im doing an eagle 383 kit probably with srp pistons. my heads are 56cc and im gonna have my block decked the minimum (i dont know what that is). ill use the fel pro 1074 head gaskets, i think there .039 thick. will there be an off the shelf srp piston i can buy thats the right cc?

-16cc will get you closer to 10.6. I've got the same pistons in my 383 with the fel pro .039" head gaskets, 54cc chambers and it yeilds approx 10.8. So there you go...

Here is what you need to know to variables needed to calculate CR.
1. bore
2. stroke
3. piston deck height
4. gasket thickness
5. combustion chamber volume
6. piston "volume"
7. distance from piston crown to top of top ring*
8. gasket bore*
The last two (asterisked) make only a small contribution and can be omitted. If you have any five of the first six you can calculate the unknown spec. This is my favorite on-line calculator for CR: http://www.rosspistons.com/calculator.php
