Can someone explain this LT1 rwhp voodoo..?
Yeah...most of LG's cars. LS6 stock bottom end, their ported heads, either a X2 or X3 cam, long tubes and tuning can reach 465-478 rwhp with out much work. All thru all accessories and full exhaust. I'm sure once the new LSX intake comes out this winter you will see 500 rwhp heads/cam/intake Corvette's running around.
I believe most of the other tuners can get 430-450rwhp with out to much problem. There are a couple other places that are right up there with LG as well. I wanna say...and don't quote me on this but I thought Cartek technically has the most rwhp rating right now at 486...but thats with heads/cam/headers, no muff/elec water pump/short belt......
The dyno wars with LS1s are a lot more involved that what you see over here anymore.

I think its mainly the heads(on top of ever other advantage they have). Most LS1 heads flow 240cfm range. Now, I know everyone likes to play cfm number games(where bigger is ALWAYS better
) but in reality....that is enough cfm to initially support around 528hp. Now thats not before any % loss, but still....thats enough to make 450+rwhp on stock heads if the setup is right.
Plus, every other part they have is better....so It all adds up I guess.

The LS-1's always have the upper hand on the LT-1's. They were engineered top be better engines. True even when moded it's hard to meet thier Stock ratings...but it's not impossible. As far as heads and Cams go for the LS-1's I think they get allot better result's than the ol' LT-1's do...the LS's have an unbelieveable Top end setup.... but I think the all mighty LT-1 vs. LS-1 equalizer is stroking...(not the C5-R) version either. I don't think it's really makes sense to compare the LT vs LS-1's anymore. I mean thier entirely different engines...all together like compairing the original 350's to ours.

as already mentioned its a combination/tuning getting those big numbers on some lt1's ......stock for stock ls1 is supreme but highly modified lt1 can match a highly modified ls1....
ls1's were blessed from the factory with a small bore stroker topped off with 15* heads it should be faster and make more power....a good combination can close the gap however...

The magic as Joe has shown/proved with his setup and mine along with Quickshotkimbers is getting the right combination in the engine.
There are some good head porters lately getting their heads out in circulation, with the right cam to go with those heads we should see more and more 400+ rwhp LT1's.
GMRULZ has TEA ported LT1 heads on his setup. I think his torque was around 380.

you can buy a grinding tool from sears for $200 and do it yourself. i have a book on building small black chevies on a budget, and the majority of power comes porting yourself.
not that i'd ever do that, i'd probably majorly **** something up. but THEORETICLY! (sp?)

LS1 motors are a hop skip and a jump away from 500 to the wheels, and 425-460 rwhp is becoming the norm.
I was curious why LT1 cars pushing 450 are out there (safe to say not streetable or else they'd be everywhere), but why there's this huge gap below this (I could only find a handful of threads with cars in the 380-420 range, with the majority in the 350-360 range). ...and I have a feeling that paragraph made absolutely no sense. Anyways, I think I get the picture. Time to stick a fork in this one
I heard that LS1 just with a few bolt on, air foil, pulley's, and CAI net 425rwhp!!!!!!
Match that LT1!!!!
Modification for modification LS1 vs LT1 there isn't much difference. Of course we have start out behing the 8 ball with our heads.

actually it was 419 rwhp/390ish torque, corrected was 430 rwhp, cam only stock heads on a ls1...whats shocking a lt1 guy custom ground and sold them the cam wonder who that was???....nobody can say that guy is bias

If you knew what kind of HP he's turning at the wheels, you'd feel like a little girl right now.
Pick up the LT-1 Vs. LS-1 issue of GMHTP
Very interesting and sad. Most of the LT-1's on there running consitant times with the LS-1's and were modded out the ***.
but on the other note I think the LS6 speaks more of what an LS engine is about period. Some changes to the intake and heads and your at 400hp with a 5. 7L still . Not so easy for the LT's to do...but the scary factor is that even at that 400 or so HP the car still can but ported...and that's what scares me.

Never heard of it through a stock cube motor, even some strokers. Speed Inc. made 515 with a 427ci NA in a Z06. 500 is definitley stretching it.
