Cruising down the interstate at 3000 rpms the car just suddenly dies. The spark plugs dont have a spark but the coil pack does have a spark. Is it possible for the opticrap to just go out with no history of spuddering or hesitation since i have had it?

 

The opti can just die without warning. If your coil has spark but your spark plugs don't sounds like the opti.

 

can't if the coil is still firing but the spark plugs aren't can't that also be the ICM.

 

Hmmm, not really, unless it has the water pump dump all the coolant on it, ask me how I know. But usally they run like crap for a day or two then just kick the bucket.

 

Yes it absolutely can. Mine did. The car died suddenly while I was driving and never started again. It still had a weak spark but not enough to start.

Mine died exactly like that.
One day I'm driving right along, everthing running great...
then the next thing I know, it sputters for maybe 30 seconds, as though half the plug wires were suddenly crossed, then NOTHING. Dead. Stranded in the middle of the biggest intersection in town at luch hour!

 

The same thing happend to me except there was a loud pop before it went..it only had 19 miles on it too. I was replaced free of charge ofcourse.

 

Yeah mine just died, I dunn if its the opti or the opti harness, I got code LOW RES FAIL which is the optical section of the opti, the opti only had 1k on it brand new pretty much baught a few month back, might be the harness though, still sucks big time, I'm getting my LTCC soon, but the optical section still has to work.
