Can an Opti becaome "over heated"?

I was wondering if an opti can over heat or get too hot to work properly? Everytime my car gets past the half way mark on the temp gauge my car starts acting really weird almost like when i burnt out my plug wires. And it cant be the wires becasue i swapped them out along with the LT install. Or how about the wires themselves? Can they get too hot to work right?

My car used to do the same thing. Changed the coil and got a 160 thermostat, now the problem is gone. Now, I have my PCM reprogrammed to have the fans come on sooner, so I don't see temps much above 160. The problem hasn't come back in months.

You problem is not the opti. Its one of your sensors that pcm reads when it enters the CLOSED loop. The temp has to be up there to go into closed loop (running off sensors) vs open loop (runing off the pcm program). So when your car is cold it runs in the open loop, but once it warms up to the temp ( i think 150) it enters closed loop. Make sense?
I would make sure all your sensors work

Heat can cause odd problems with the opti and also the ICM.
