SES for how long?

to make a long story short, i had an SES light because my IAC was crap. and i replaced it, and i started the car, and it was idling a little high to begin with (like it was doing before i replaced the IAC) and so i took it for a drive, and after a few minutes smoothed out and went back down to normal idle speed, around 700 rpm.

but the SES light still hasn't gone away.

does it take the computer a little running time before it figures out everything is okay?

when it started idling high, it took it a day or so before the SES light came on, so that's what makes me think it may take about a day before it realizes it's okay and goes away.

any thoughts?

You might want to try yanking the ECM fuse, or disconnecting the battery although I had an SES code and it cleared itself immediately after I fixed the problem, Code 015 and 033.

You should probably reset your computer by removing the PCM BAT fuse for a little bit, then putting it back. That will clear out any old codes. If the SES comes back on, there is something you should check out. The year of your car might be an appropriate thing to include with your question.
