Can i use Gen I Sbc heads on LT1 block?
OK I just saw that you want to put a V8 in your Fiero..... where do I begin?
1) if you ever expect to accomplish this feat you will need alot of tallent (yours or someone elses) and ultimately cash (or alot of generous freinds)
2) if you go with a V8, what drivetrain are you planning on using? The stock Fiero transaxle is too weak for even 250 hp.
3) As a starting point check out this web site, they offer many packages for a variety of options that may get you on the road more quickly with a faster more reliable car.

Just take you time and study all of your options so you'll have more fun with less money
Good luck

I was under the impression that the fiero drivetrain was good for 300 hp. That's why the 300 hp northstar swap is fairly popular for them, it's right at the limit of what the transaxle can handle.

Yeah, in such a case, don't tell the guy's 406ci fiero that you can find on the internet.
I was actually surpised to find out how tuff they are. Those gearboxes are supposed to be adequate for small blocks putting out the power that a small block should. I did a little checking into when I was looking at a body kit (F355) for a Fiero.

A lot of good opinions no doubt, thanks .I think my problem is the fact that; I had two halfs of engines parts that are incompatible. So I either could go Sbc Gen I or Sbc LT1 way.To this day , after researching the web for info , I'm inclining more to the Sbc Gen 1 side. The only good thing I see about the 4.3 LT1 is , the crank and the rods," those that know engines know what I'm talking about". I still will like to know, the details of what kind of machining needs to be done to the heads " Sbc Gen I " to be adapted to the LT1 block.
.
if you do go with an older block, the use of LT1 powder metal rods in them is getting popular. i would use an old block, LT1 rods, and some affordable heads (cast iron 487,041,186,441 with a .270-280 d, .425-450 lift @ .50 combo with these heads all good for 270-300 hp with 750 cfm carb/nice intake/headers/HEI iggy) if you are on a restricted budget. a decent 350 in a Fiero is not gonna have to be a huge horsepower maker anyways. making 300 hp in a 350 is not that hard or expensive if you take the time to look around and shop wisely..
just my $.02
