Yes, its possible, I've done it myself, and you do not have to take the hood off.

 

I have pulled the whole engine and tranny to gether. but when putting back in I had heads on. Much easier to get good tourque readings with room to work. Also had passenger header on while going in. (Mac Midlengths)
