can i make my opti work
can i make my opti work
is there anyway to temporarily revive a dead opti. i think mines dead but id like to know if there is a way to make it somewhat work. like enough to start the car or at least show signs of firing. does hitting it help.
Re: can i make my opti work
no not really.......if its dead its dead. did you have an ses light? I guess it just depends on what part died. Was it the optical part or is it just wet inside and corroded pins. if its not working, and of the car then open it up and see what it looks like inside.....ods are its gone and done for.

Re: can i make my opti work
If its the optical sensor, it would have set DTC 16 and/or 36. Only DTC 16 will prevent it from starting. That would indicate its a dead sensor, or a blinded sensor (might be able to clean the rust out), or a corroded harness connector. Have you scanned it? Have you checked the connector for corrosion?
If its the cap/rotor, no codes will be set. In that case, simply replacing the cap/rotor might revive it.
Might want to summarize the problems, how it ran before it failed to start, what other items you have looked at and ruled out, etc. If this has been an ongoing problem, post a link to earlier threads.

Re: can i make my opti work
ran and started perfectly before but that was over two years ago. i had the motor out and apart. the opti has just sat on the shelf in the garage for two years.
