Can i install 4.10 without installations kits

hi,i broke recently my 3.73 gears ,i bought a 4.10 motive gears but i research here in lt1's that you need full installation kit with the solid shim.can i install without spacers;etc.etc.???i dont plan to put in slicks

not the best idea unless you want them going bad quickly. spend the extra $$$.

No way should you do it without spacers. Youll have so much backlash that youll probably be breaking teeth off in a week. Spend the 50 or so dollars and do the job properly.

The 4.10 ain't gonna last either,if it's a factory rear end.Pinion is to small to take the load.It is no bigger than an egg. All you need is a crush sleave and a pinion nut and ring gear bolts and get the inner brg pressed off and on the pinion.If you get a GMHP ring and pinion you shouldn't need shims.Check the backlash with a dial indicator and see after you install it. The carrier shims are easy to change and leave the shim under the inner pinion brg like it is.

i dunno if i were you id want to replace all the bearings if i broke the gears cause there is prolly a bunch of crap that worked its way into everything but thats just me

He's just going to have to replace them again in a short time anyway,when the 4.10 breaks,and it will. Probably wasn't run far enough after the breakage to have hurt the brgs.

if you have a choice go with the 'thicker' 4.11's
