Can the Emmisions test guy pass any car ?
Anyone know if Emissions testers can pass any car ? Is there a way to get the car to cheat the test ?

On older cars were they cant scan the vin no problem, just enter your vin in and then just smog a new truck or some thing. They are supose to use a hand held scanner and scan the vin on cars with bar codes, but I know they tried it on my car and it didnt work so they ended up writing the vin down. As far as visual inspection goes, yea you can pass fairly easy, they just enter P for every thing on. On an OBDI they still can enter your vin number manulally so... On OBDII cars were they hook up the computer to another computer it gets harder.
First, not an appropriate subject for LT1 Tech.
Second, does everyone not realize that the emissions regulations and inspection procedures are DIFFERENT from state to state, and even within the counties and other admistrative areas of many states. It is impossible for someone from PA or TX to tell someone in MA what the procedures are, unless you happened to live there as well.
That's why it would have made a lot more sense to post this on one of the "regional" boards, where it would be seen and responded to by people who at least live in the same state.

In TX this would require putting a "dummy" car on the dyno in order to fake the numbers. The "pass" is generated by the computer, which is connected to the STATE of TEXAS.... The *only* way would be to put in your VIN and put another car on the dyno...
This would not work for OBD2 though, which as far as I know can read the VIN out of the PCM, and would be pretty hard to fake. Of course, you could have a replacement PCM, but it would still be able to tell (I think?) if it was the appropriate type of car.
