Can Conversion.. Is it possible to...
Hey all, I bought an Isky cam and it is for a gen 1 sbc, Now I havnt called them and asked them about it yet, and I probably should, but I figure that someone here would know for sure...
I was wondering if I can convert the cam that I have (differnent Dowel Pin, and no hole for the opti snout) to work with my 95 Z28.
Also does anyone know ALL the differences between an LT1 and non LT1 sbc cam? Someone told me that the LT1 grinds are ground +4 degrees. Is this true?
Any Ideas or suggestions? I need to know before I buy all the other parts for my new motor.
Thanks in advance!

Re: Can Conversion.. Is it possible to...
this is probably not helpful in anyway...but it will at least keep your post on page 1...why would you even bother converting it to an LT1 cam? Just sell it and pick up a comp cam for ~$270
Re: Can Conversion.. Is it possible to...
I dont want to get rid of it mostly because ISKY is local to me and I like their ramp rates a bit more than the Comp's. Esp for the RPM that im gonna be pulling with this new setup.. ~7k.
If it cannot be converted, then I will be looking for an Ultradyne cam.

What kind of lifter is it for??? If it's still a roller, which by the RPM range you're talking it'll be a solid roller, then yes it should work with an LT1 block...I ran a GM 857 (I believe) in a block in a third gen...Same cam, only had to tap the dowl in a little to get it to clear the timing cover, but it worked with either the older or the LT block...I don't see why it wouldn't...Especially since at that RPM you're probably not going to want to run the Opti as it'll probably toss the rotor in there...One of Speed Inc's cars did that religiously....

Re: Can Conversion.. Is it possible to...
Well, Its a hydraulic Roller and it probably will only see 7k once or twice.. I will probably set redline at around 65-6800. My biggest question is the hole in the front of the cam for the opti snout. I know I can change the dowel, but the opti snout is my biggest concern.. As far as the opti rotor goes, I will not be using the opti as a firing distributer, but I will be using it as an optical trigger for the LTCC, so I will still need the opti...
Any ideas? I need help with this questions soon! PLEASE!!?!
Thanks guys!

Re: Can Conversion.. Is it possible to...
Thats good news.. I have a custom comp cam that was destroyed when my last motor blew up so I guess I can have my machine shop copy it then...
Thanks....
One more thing though, is it true that the LT1 Cams are ground +4 degrees?
Anyone know about this?
Thanks....

Re: Can Conversion.. Is it possible to...
I actually confirmed that fact with comp earlier today.. the guy also explained to me that I will need a cam button since the retainers on the lt1 blocks wont work with the sb1 style cams... That sucks, but oh well... Im sure my machine shop can set me up
Thanks for the help guys!
