Re: Can anyone point out what relay this is?

Hey, thanks for the reply. From what I understand from reading here, the wire I grounded on the relay is only grounded during starting. I have it grounded all of the time now. Still seems ok?

Sorry for the repeat, but I just want to be sure it is clear what I did. This seems like an easier solution to bypassing the VATS than the resistor in line under the column. Why don't more people bypass it this way? Have I missed something?

you'll be good, the relay doesn't get power till the key is turned to the crank position, and the neutral safety switch will still work too

Wow this sounds exactly like my problem, fast96lt4 and JWBerk94Z, was your car starting, or even cranking? Mine won't even crank, but the security light does flash, only drivable if you push start it.

Damn VATS, causes more problems then it solves.

My car was not even cranking, security light was flashing as well as my dash lights were all out. I changed a new ignition switch, dash lights came on but car would still not crank. Tested wires for shorts and came up with a bad TDR.

My car wouldn't crank at all. From what I understand, if I hadn't had VATS disabled in my pcm it would have shut off fuel soon after it was push started. Now I have the small wire from the VATS (maybe supposed to call that box the BCM)to the TDR grounded all of the time and it looks like it runs fine.
