Question Can anyone point out what relay this is?

Okay, i don't have a picture but know exactly where it's at. It is located inside the dasboard. The easiest way to get to it was by pulling my cd player out, and it's clipped on the driver's side. The relay has the starter wire running to it. I think that relay is bad. I've been diagnosing a starter problem. I have power leaving the switch to the relay, but no power after. I can turn the car on by putting direct power to the starter. (The relay was pulled out and misplaced ) Also, put new ignition switch in and and all gauges are operating now. Is the security light suppose to blink when you have the key turned forward?

You said you replaced the ignition lock, did you get one with the right vats chip? Sounds like the security system is cutting the starter because the key is wrong.

The relay that is to the left of the radio is usually the high blower relay. The theft deterrent relay is to the right of the glovebox in stock form.
The security light should stay solid when the key is turned on, then go out. If it is blinking, there is a problem with the VATS.

the key is brand new as well as the ignition switch. High blower relay? Does it have the starter wire running to it? What is the easiest way to bypass the system|? I know you have a tech page (shoebox) but i am really dumb when it comes to wiring and electrical connections. All help is wanted

No, the high blower relay has nothing to do with the ignition. Bypassing the key pellet instructions can be found on my website (if that is your problem). You may have had some aftermarket wiring that has been done that could be difficult for anyone to try to figure out.

.... All these problems make me wana sell my car. To bypass all i would have to do is place a ressistor on the ignition lock cylinder towards the connector?

Re: Can anyone point out what relay this is?

Thanks, can you tell me where it is? I am under the pass side dash and the only things I see are a metal colored box with 2 plugs on top and a black box down low on the kick panel with 2 plugs on top. The rest seems to be blower motor and ducting. Where is the relay? Pic?

TIA

The TDR is to the right of the glovebox, tucked up and pinned to the metal frame of the dash. There are two relays there. The other one is the hatch relay.

Re: Can anyone point out what relay this is?

Ah ha!!! Found it, thanks. I was looking towad the side of the car and towards the firewall. It is located under the dash, off to the right side, and tucked back up towards the back of the car. With the glove box out, you can see the gray push clips sticking through the right side of what would normally be the glove box.

Time to search again, I grounded pin 86, the small wire and she started!!!

Key reads the same resistance out of the ignition or in the ignition and checking at the bottom of the column. What could be broken in the middle?

TIA

Re: Can anyone point out what relay this is?

Hmmm, will I be hurting anything by perminately grounding pin 86, the small yellow w/ black tracer from the TDR? Seems like that would bypass VATS and I don't mind that.

Re: Can anyone point out what relay this is?

By the way, VATS is bypassed in my pcm so the fuel won't be cut. However, I just had it running with this wire bypassed to ground and all seems well. Can anyone foresee any problems with this?????

TIA
