Camshaft Install Price

What's a typical camshaft install cost these days? Without the rockers and springs since I don't need that done.

Who does it around the Detroit, MI area? Thanks in advance

From what I've seen, anywhere from $800 to $1200 for labor is most common.

That's a big Fbody area. I say just bribe local Fbody guys with booze to do the work.

Make sure they have most of it done, before you pay them though

IMO you should not have a car modified to that level unless you can do the work yourself.

I find that a little obsurd. If he wants the cam and has the money by all means get it. I can't put a cam in but im getting one also. I agree that it's expensive just don't understand why someone shouldn't get one based on the fact that they can't install one themselves

A vehicle that modified is going to need more maintained and has potential for failures OEM engines don't exhibit like valve spring breakage. Meaning every time it needs attention you have to hope the local speed shop is open, because the average garage wont understand it.

This stuff is not that hard, and learning doesn't hurt.

Lucky for me i guess the owner of the speedshop lives on site and is my next door neighbor. I would love too learn the ins and outs but i don't own a garage either. No place too work on my vehicles i do agree it would make things easier if you could do it yourself not to mention less downtime and a fatter wallett
