Re: Cammed LT1 Trapping <95 - HELP

I had similiar issues with my car when i did my cam. Went to the track and i was 4-5 mph slower than when i had the stock cam.

I had little vacuum (ie brakes sucked), to get the car moving from a stop took lots of pedal, and it ran hot most of the time.

Cause.... Timing chain off a tooth and the dots werent lined up, even though i checked the stupid thing a few times. Shrug. it can happen to anyone.

I would grab a vacuum gauge and go from there. Re adjust the rockers and see how that affects the readings. If they are still low, go back into the cam and check the physical timing of it. Good news is that to do that you just need to tear down the front half of the motor, not the top half too

Re: Cammed LT1 Trapping <95 - HELP

I just went back and searched a few of my old threads. Maybe something in here will help you too.

http://web.camaross.com/forums/showt...hlight=big+cam

Also forgot, my car liked to backfire through the intake when the timing was off

Re: Cammed LT1 Trapping <95 - HELP

i had a problem with the lt4 timing set from day one. when i installed it the chain was a loose bitch. im talking about 1/2 of play on both sides. that will kill performance. i got an oversized timing gear from wayne gray (wgray@cloyes.com) for the set and was very impressed. the gear took ALL the slack out. ($%#ing GM and their BULL $#% god damned POS timing sets.)

lol that set wasnt the one that got installed wrong. It was a little looser than i would idealy like, but the ability to keep your stock h20 pump was nice, and it was still a much better chain the the stocker.

Re: Cammed LT1 Trapping <95 - HELP

I have the same cam, i hope i dont run that at the track. Something must be wrong, my car seems pretty strong. A little sloggish down low but its running super rich and it needs another tune, but it feels hella stronger compared to the stock form which i managed to pull a 13.6 at 104. I would check over some things

It seemed plenty tight when i installed it. It looked like the dots were lined up fine, but i didnt turn the engine over and double check

the dots should be right over eachother, no questions. did you do the valve timing when the front of the motor was off.
