Angry Cammed LT1 Trapping under 95mph - wtf

Finally made it to the track last night, was horribly dissapointed.

Mods are as follows - LPE Cai, XE612 springs, Comp R lifters, Comp Pro Mag NSA 1.6rrs, hardened pushrods, 224/230 112 LSA cam, LT4 Extreme duty timing set, LT4 KM, Jethot LTs, no cat, Magnaflow catback, Spec Stage 4 ceramic clutch, Pro 5.0 shifter.

Opti, plugs and wires all have under 3000 miles on them.

Weather was mid 80s high humidity, track prep wasnt great not many people hooking up.

I was running street tires...so here are two of my time slips.
(first run ever)
RT- .210 .329
60'- 2.646 2.926
330-6.807 7.223
1/8- 10.116 10.642
MPH-74.37 72.75
1/4- 15.336 15.921
MPH-94.30 93.75

The car seems to run alright, pulls pretty well past 3000 RPMs. We checked the tune and everything seemed right on, minimal knock retard, good A/F, WOT tuning was great.

So anyone know why in the hell this thing could be trapping so low? I mean stock LT1s trap around this speed. I understand my 60' really sucked but i would think i would have made up for it up top.

You don't know...

There's a virus out there that's causing LT engines to run Low mid 15's...

My car has it too.... aparantly I f34ked something up after running into a flood.

That and some other problems...

Is there a brick under the gas pedal? Just tell people that it's a V-6 and they'll think your car is running about right.

Well, hate to say it but the majority of the problem is between the steering sheel and the drivers seat. You have GOT to be kidding with that 60'! Just remember that (this is an approximation, not exact) that each tenth you get your 60' down will amount to about a tenth and a half at the end.

Breaking down your runs as follows then...

Run #1 - lost a full SECOND of ET on the first run (a little bit less actually - 646 x 1.5 = 0.969 - Close enough to call it a full second). Thats figuring a plain old 2.0 60' time too. C'mon man, my WIFE does 2.0 60' times in her bone stock SS on eagles.. Anyway, if you deduct that your running 14.367. Not stellar, but not out of the question either...

Run #2 - lost 1.389!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That gives a 14.532. Again, not anything to brag about but not beyond reason either.

Your MPH IS indeed a little low, but there are some other factors that come to mind that can have a brutal effect, like short shifting, WEATHER (hot humid weather is a KILLER of times!).

I would recommend going back and re-checking all your basics too (plugs, wires, opti, fuel pressure, fuel filter, etc..). There's a couple more MPH in there somewhere. You just gotta find it.

Keep working on that 60' man! The race is usually won or lost in the first 60 feet...

No flames were intended here. Just making a point...

I bet your wife couldnt pull 2.0 60' with the clutch im running and street tires.

Its either "light em up" or "bog it down"

Sorry I see you have Comp R' lifters, couldn't help notice but if you're running anything more the ZERO (0) LASH thats most likely your problem, if you are running more preload then zero lash go ahead & readjust them, many people are running those lifters past 0-1/8th of a turn & can't figure out why they are so slow, I was one of the people, 1/8th seems to work great for some people but for me zero lash was by far the best setting so I would advice not to go past that & see.

And the icing on the cake, and my final proof that something other than my sucky 60' is wrong...

I went against an integra with intake and exhaust from a 10mph roll...i got no wheel spin and he left me...

Now there is no way that should happen if im running anywhere near my potential.

I have a somewhat similar problem...my car is trapping lower than I expected as well. I am running the same setup as you, but when I made my run at the track I didn't have the Comp R's and ended up collapsing a few lifters. So now I have Comp R's and haven't gotten back to the track yet....anyway I ran a 13.5@106 and change at about the same elevation (and that was the run where my lifters collapsed) so there seems to be something seriously wrong with your setup. One thing that it doesn't appear that you have is a PCM tuning and that is very important especially with a cam that aggressive. Those 60 foot times are hurting your ET but not really your MPH so you gotta start looking into that. Check the amount of knock you are getting and make sure that the opti is all lined up right so you have the correct timing and so forth.....

I am hoping that my car is running right with the Comp R's now, we will see I suppose. You should be trapping around 108-110 according to most others with our cam
