93- Speed Density, 4L60, hardened pushrods, yellow gauges

94- MAF, 4L60E, Sealed Optispark, hardened pushrods, white 1st year white gauges

95- Last year for OBDI, Vented Optispark, Last year hardened pushrods

96- First year OBDII, Dual-cat exhaust (hp from 275 to 285)

97- Newest interior, newest taillight covers, last year for LT1

I would say that the 1995 Z28 is the best. It has the vented optispark, and it also has OBDI. However, according to Consumer Reports (for what it's worth.....), the 1995s don't have very good reliability, and the 94s are significantly more reliable. But as we all know, there's good/bad with all makes/models/model years.

I thought you were trying to say the 97 had the newer 98+ front end.

Cars getting the SS option were shipped to SLP's facilities and fitted with special options like ramair hoods, 17x9 ZR1 replica rims, SLP 3" exhaust, Shocks, gears, Hurst shifters and a host of other add ons

They were also numbered and came with special documentation.

SLP= Street Legal Performance. They are a factory authorized company that finished these special cars for GM. They also were responsible for the Firebird "Firehawk" and the "Comp TA"

ok i was thinking about buying a lt1 camaro but now im really unsure, so which do you guys recommend?, im guessing probably not 93, would a obd2 one be better?i was thinking about a obd1 since they can be found relatively cheap but i am not sure, also what equates to the 10hp difference of 275- 285, as for goals id probably just pretty much be sticking with bolt ons and suspension work, so what do you guys recommend.

I would recommend a nice low mile 94. It is OBD1. Only downside is the un-vented optispark, but it is not really that huge a deal. I've been watching prices on LT1 cars online and they seem to be rising.

I paid 7,500 last year for my 94 Z convert 6-speed with 50K on it and I cannot find any now for under 11,000 with low miles.

good luck!

It is possible to convert from the un-vented to the 95+ vented opti. $250 - $300 to replace it yourself.

OBTW... the difference between the 93-95 275hp lt1 and the 96-97 285hp LT-1 is the exhaust. The later got twin cats for better flow. I plan on upgrading my exhaust anyway, so it doesnt bother me.
