224/230 and 846 may seem similar on paper but the lobe designs are different. May folks dont like the XE lobes. Billet is the material the cam is made of, Billet is better than cast, why I am not sure, someone else will have to chime in.

Re: cam time soon ...3 choices need help

wha nvm i just saw that the 224/230 is .502 / .510 112 LSA ...thats waayyy lower lift than the 846 (222/230, 543, 563 on 112) what does the lift affect again? i know duration has to do with where the powerband is and stuff but whats lift do?

XE224/236 is a pretty damn good NA cam when you get it on a 112 lsa. Mine made 352 rwhp and 364 tq with this cam, shorty headers, full catback, stock water pump, and a good dyno tune. Drives really well too, my tuner was able to get virtually all the surge out of it at low revs. No need to spin the motor any more than 6300ish either. However, with some of the stuff we had to do on the dyno to get this thing to drive right and get the most out of it, I would not reccommend running this cam with a mail order tune.

^yeppers, $400ish is the going rate these days. Tuning actually is a mod IMO, you would spend extra to get a better set of heads or machine work right? Works the same way.
