Cam swap tips.

I plan to get started around mid november. This is my 7th motor but my first incar motor modding, as all my others have been on stands. First off since my car will be down for a long while any tips to keep it from locking up? I plan to change the oil in it before i start the job. Next anything i should watch out for/dont **** up on? How hard is getting new cam bearings in, never done that with a motor in the car before either. My car will be sitting from december til i finish which i would venture to say about late feb-beginning of march because i have a busy holiday schedule. Do i need to take my a/c out? if so how much does it cost to discharge?

Also will i have enough room to drop my hookers in while im at it? might as well get it knocked out too.

Ya won't be able to change cam brgs and the motor in the car unless ya remove tranny and ya got a tube K member. If ya do all that ya still may not get it done. Much easier to pull it.
If it's carb car ya could get some Marvel oil and while it is running pure it in till it stalls. I don't think ya will have a problem for three months.
A/C will be OK.
The header's will be easy after ya pull the engine.

You don't have to deplete the A/C. Check out, I believe it's page 7 of my Cardomain site in my sig. You'll see a pic and a short explanation of how I got around it.

You did the install without removing the manifolds? How hard was that getting the valvesprings on without having the heads off?

Didn't remove the manifolds. Changing springs w/ the heads ON the car is quite a chore, but can be done. Just hang in there.

Are ya selling tickets to the show of not pulling the intake for a cam install? If ya are I need some 'cause there would be a bunch of guys wanting to see that!!!
Any bets!!!

Basically the post was about cam bearing change and a cam swap with the engine IN the car. Then a few storage questions and then the header install which as everybody knows has to have the factory exhaust manifolds removed.

That's how I read it anyway.
