Cam swap prob! No alignment pin for timing gear in new cam.
Cam swap prob! No alignment pin for timing gear in new cam.
When I recieved my cam from comp there wasn't the pin in the front that aligns the timing gear. I called combination, where i originally ordered the cam, and they told me to put a rag or similar over the pin then tighten some vice grips onto it and tap it out. However I tightened down the grips as far as i could and it still keeps sliding off the pin, I also heated up the snout of the cam and no luck. Anyone tell me how to get it out? Big thanks in advance.
good luck buddy, i had a simalar prob. they sent me a cam, only mine was too short, so i got the pin from my old cam out and switched it into the new one, turns out that THAT pin was too short aswell!! so i just jb-welded it in place.
anyways to your question.
The way I got mine out was by using a vice and tightening it on the pin as TIGHT AS POSSIBLE. I then turned the cam upside down, pin faceing the floor, and held the cam as tight as i could about 1 foot off the ground while a buddy got a hammer and hit the vice. 1 hammer and 2 vice later i got the both out. a little lubricant wont hurt either im sure. good luck
