Cam suggestions...

Alright, I currently have a 306 cam in my 95 Trans Am and want to know if theres a better one out there that will get me down the track faster.. I have a 355, Lt4 heads and intake gasket matched so they flow alittle better, but not alot, 3600 stall, 30lb injectors, 1.6 rr, 58mm TB, nitrous and a 3.73 gear, but prolly change.. Thats the most important mods.. Whats some opinions, keep or is there something better? This is only for this summer, so dont want to spend $350 on a custom one for 3 or so months..

I would just keep the CC306, there are not many better options for shelf cams, unless you want to step up to something a little more extreme like the GM847. If you are going to go through the hassle of installing another cam, I would just spend the extra money and get a custom one made.

Install 1.65 rr's. I noticed a difference with my heads and cam. These are Harland Sharp. They fit under stock valve covers too.

What times/mph are you currently running? What/where is your peak torque occuring? You might be able to use more converter and gear with that cam...You could probably just tweak what you have a little bit and be very happy...

It went 12.60 @108 n/a 1.7 60ft w/ the 2800 stall.. Peak Torque is at around 5200-5400 rpm..

Thats a pretty sh*tty time for a cc306 cam. My bolt-on LT1 trapped 108. Are you sure you have it tuned???

Gasket matching is not a good idea, too late though I guess. LT4s are not great on a 350-355 either unless you want to spin past what the pcm is capable of.

How much compression are you running?

108 is way down....I trapped 116 on stock heads and 100# seat press

what springs you running? have any dyno graph? you have a simple overlooked problem somewhere

should probly be making around 350 rwhp

Heres my dyno graph, I made first 2 on motor and 3rd on 75 shot.. I dont see why it dropped power at 5600 except maybe my tachs off aways and thats where I let off or its taking timing out..?? Also have around 11 to 1 compression..

I have Comp cams 987 double valve spings, suppose to be good for .600 lift, and my rev limiter is set at 6800 I believe, pcmforless did it, and it shifts at 6500 on my tach, which is prolly alittle lower.. I believe thats where that had me shut it down about..

Between the low RPM and those springs no wonder your CC306 only traps that! Gotta fix those two things first.

So can I fix that without tearing heads off? Or do I have to get new springs? And what do you mean low rpm?
