I pulled my motor from my 95 Z and was wondering if this was the stock cam.
The number between the front lobes around the cam are:
GMPT BC 16 242 BC 16 24-2.

I know someone had cracked this motor open before and I'm not sure what they did. The bores and pistons are stock so I'm just curious what they did.

 

I don't remember off the top of my head exactly, but I do remember seeing 242 on the end of my stocker. If you are unsure as to whether it's stock or not, take a look at the rockers and valve springs. Not to mention the characteristic "thump" of an aftermarket cam thumping.

 

stock LT1 cam #'s

GMPT-BC-13-241 (93-94)
GMPT-BC-16-242 (95-97)

Difference I think is the front of the cam to support the 2 different optisparks

 

Thanks a lot for the info guys. I'm new to the LT1 engines and this info is a great help. I wasn't sure if anything had been done to this motor before I bought the car.
I've been building older Chevy's 30 something years and it seems like I'm starting all over from scratch with all of the LT1 info.
