cam sizes
Ok im looking at the next step in making my camaro faster its a 94 z28 w headers exhaust cold air msd ignition and optispark im looking into possibly a programmer but im also wanting to put a cam ... would it be pointless to get the programmer knowing the cam and tune will come soon? Im not familiar w cam sizing ... what would be a good set up if im also looking to get lifters and a stall convertor at the same time . Im trying to achieve around 375- 400 hp eventually

Programming is a whole other animal. Hand-held programmers are a thing of the past. Look into vendors like www.pcmforless.com or madz28.com for tuning options.
Try a search on this forum - you'll likely be overwhelmed with the knowledge to be had.
Re: cam sizes
Im shooting for 400 rwhp but ill not be installing the cam myself but I've also been thinking of just buying a forged 383 and possibly getting into forced induction later ... would this be a smarter/ less cost effective way to get the hp im looking for?
Re: cam sizes
Well if you do a 383 stroker motor you will be capable of so much more power. Cost effective..? Not really if your looking for 400 rwhp. a 383 with boost would be alot more than 400 not to mention your turbo or procharger, which ever you choose, would prolly be $1500 alone, then you would need to make sure all your internals could handle what youre forcing in. I am not formilliar with 383s so i couldnt tell you that much.
I would stick with your 350, put in a mildly agressive cam, and redo the entire valve train. Most cams recomend a 2500 stall converter or so anyway if you wanted to do that too. A 52mm throttle body, 58s are some what overkill. And maybe a gear incrase, if its auto id go with 3.42s if a stick 3.73s. And once your all set and done, then get a new chip burned for your pcm.
Here is a good thread on cam info too

Re: cam sizes
Thanks for the info forced induction on a 383 would be way down the line but its not out of the picture eventually I will get another car and keep my z28 as a project but for now im really just trying to get higher in the hp department while keeping it moderately cost efficient (not likely haha) but thanks for the info guys
Re: cam sizes
Get a used hot cam or cc305 and new lt4 springs from jegs for 50 bucks. Spring compressor at sears for the springs and for the cam.......Good luck
Just get all the bolt on's, roller rockers, and a tune.
