cam shaft choosing
I am currently hunting for a cam for my camaro i was seriously considering the lt4 hot cam, but are there more alternatives and better cams ,i have a 58 mm tb,the borla cat back and other goodies ,since ill have half the motor apart to swap a cam out i pulling the heads off i probably port them and the intake at work.and where can i find some dicently priced headers. thanx for all your help out there it would be greatly appreciated
you need to think more about what your goals are and what you can afford. think about hp numbers as well as timeslips. also what is the car going to be used for. will it be a trailor queen or a daily driver? once you tell us what your goals and purpose for the car is, we will be able to help you better in picking the right cam for you!

well gas milage is not much of a concern, but i am looking to see a low 12 high 11 qm ,i plan on drivin it more on the weekend.as for budget well i already have 1500 saved for it. and im a machinist so i can take care of porting dutys.i still like to go out and play in the twisties every now and then!
well with a good enough set of ported heads and intake, along with headers and other mods, just about any cam will put you into the 12's. if you want some real power, i would suggest looking into an extreme energy grind along with the appropriate valvetrain. if you plan on spraying the car or supercharging the car, i would go with a 224/236 on a 114lsa. if you want to stay, n/a, i would look at a 230/236 or maybe even a cc306. i didn't see if you had an auto or manual but, either one of the cams that i mentioned would really benefit from a 2800-3200 stall converter and some serious traction. good luck
