I just got the Comp cam 224/230 on a 112 LSA and I love it. It has great mid range power all the way up to 6200. I got a whole kit from www.cmotorsports.com It cost about $100 more than the Hotcam but the springs are better than the ones that come with the Hotcam. You can definitly tell there is a cam in it, but it's not too radical. The hotcam is a great budget cam, but I wanted a little more beafy one.
I just started driving my car with CC306, and my first impression is that the car is perfectly streetable in low RPM's. Nothing unsusual, just a bit loud, but that's because I temporarily got bullet mufflers. Didn't try high RPM's yet, but that's where CC306 suppose to make all the power. Go with CC306, and you won't regret it.
I would suggest changing the opti, those things go bad opten for older LT1. It is quite a bit work in changing the cam if you doing it alone, and you never done something like this. It was timeconsuming for me, but at the same time I learned a lot. My friend madwolf helped me a lot, so if you can get sombody to help you who done this, you can get done in one day. Careful with oil pan gasket...
