Cam question

I recently accuired my brothers 1990 silverado. He has done some work to it already, but before I start to drive it in January I wanted to do a few things to it. This truck has an lt1 engine and aluminum heads. I also boasts shortie headers. My question is what cam kit would you guys suggest and also where would I find it at a reasonable price

Need to match it up to at least the rear end gear and stall speed of the converter. Without knowing that, the only real suggestion is a hot cam.

Thanks Speedy. I believe the rear end is a 270 but not sure of the stall. I think that I will probably go with the hot cam since it's made for that engine. I found a kit which is what I'm looking for on gmpartsdirect for $568. So far that's my best price

I really think that with a 2.70 gear, you'd be much happier with a 845 or 227 cam especially in a heavy vehicle like that. The Impala SS crowd certainly prefers it. I would lose the 2.70's. 3.73's would wake that truck right up. 4.11's even more so.
