cam question

I pulled the intake off my 96 to change the lifters out. I was thinking bout snice i had it apart id put a hot cam in or a 306. Question is there motor has a130k on it. Iam not ready to do a full rebuild yet. Is it worth putting a cam in it or just put them lifters in drive the hell outta it till i break it then do it all at once?

I have 151,xxx on the odo of my car about to put the LT4 Hot cam in my car as long as you aren't burning tons of oil or super low on oil pressure your bottom end will handle the extra power i would say it is definately worth it the power will be fun for sure

Replacing the cam is adding alot more work, then just pulling the intake and replacing the lifters.

You should ask yourself why did the lifter/lifters fail?
Are the cam bearings worn?
Pushrods bent?
Damaged valves?

Maybe it's time for a full rebuild at 130,000 miles.

Or just slap in some lifters and be done with it, add some nitrous have fun!!!

If the car is not a daily driver then might as well throw a cam in it, although as mentioned there is still quite a bit of work left to do.

You are adding a lot of work and will put more stress on the parts you have. If the lifters went out, then you are probably coming up on rebuild time anyway.
