1995 LT1 Hardened Pushrods
1995 LT1 Hardened Pushrods
Is there any truth to the statement I've heard that 1995 LT1's had hardened pushrods? If true do you think it would be safe to reuse them with 70,000 miles on them?
Yea, thats why I kept the 6 speed, Id be in the 9's if I went with a th400, but wouldn't be able to drive it on the street. Still has AC, cruise, power everything, but the ABS had to go for the blower to clear. It hasn't been a cheap route, but stick with it. BUY USED PARTS!!! Ive saved thousands and never got screwed.
If they are hardened, I though '94 was the last year for hardened pushrods, they are a 3-piece hardened pushrod, aka still junk. You can reuse them, but I would advise against it.
Here is what stock 3-piece hardened pushrods do:

I also have a set of Comp 3-piece ('cause I didn't know any better) hardened pushrods that look very similar.

I can agree with the above post, 1 piece are way better that the stock 3 piece, but 3 piece hardened pushrods aren't junk. If your valve train is setup right, and you dont accidentally downshift, 4th to 3rd instead of 4th to 5th, you shouldnt have any problems.
What caused the above damage to the pushrods?
