Yes, you will need to take out the radiator.

Sure, You need to pull the radiator and air conditioning needs to be disconnected. Then off with the water pump, fun pulling the hub, opti, lower the pan to get the timing cover off, timing gear off, intake manifold off, rockers off, pushrods out, lifters out, and Voila! out with the old cam, in with the new. Piece of cake! Need to upgrade valve springs. Also can be done with the heads in the car - lots of fun, I've done it twice.

It is possible. Just swapped cams for the 2 time.
A real help is the HAYNES manual, around 15-20 bucks.
Did a cam in a friends LS 1 in 4 hours.

Just take your time , the Haynes manual tells you
how to take it apart and put back.

And make sure you put it on TOP DEAD CENTER.
Either on #6 or #1. Make sure you put the cam in with
dow pin at the same location it came out. Or it will be
180 degrees off and could bend some valves if you try to start it.

If you plan on doing much work on the car, an official, GM, Helms shop manual is much better than the Haynes... but it does come at a price.

Cams may easily be changed in the car. If you're good, you don't even have to discharge the AC system.

Great! I'm having a mechanic from work install, but didn't know if he could do it that way. TY.
