Cam install - Problems running now

Installed a cam over the weekend and fired the car up last night and test drove today. I installed the following items:

GTP 4 cam
NGK TR55 plugs
MSD 8.5 wires
Hooker shorties
valvetrain

The car feels like a 4 cylinder right now, running rough which was to be expected on the stock tune, but the fact that it will barely move if you push down on the pedal. And I really mean that the car will barely move.

Could it be a crossed spark plug wire?
Loose plug?
wrong gap?

I checked all the opti connections and clicked in the ones that seemed to be 'off' but that didn't help. I'm letting the car cool down now to check the plug wires.

It feels ignition related to me. The thing that gets me is i've read of guys installing their cams on the stock tune but they don't seem to have the stalling problem that i'm having too much. My car will not stay running at all, constantly dying on me and then hard to start.

The opti is on flush, I triple checked that part since that seems to me a major problem.

Any ideas out there?

I can provide the specs on the cam but i'm not sure that will help in this situation. I really think it's ignition related - or - I hope it's just that.

First I'd check your wires and rockers.

I'm going out to re-check the wires now. If those are ok, you think the rockers could possibly be too tight?

What method did you use when installing the rockers?

I had a buddy of mine adjust them. We talked about how people use different methods such as 1/4 turn past, 1/2 turn and 3/4 turn, we went with 3/4 turn past I believe.

I just talked to him, he's going to stop over tonight and re-adjust them for me. I will pay more attention this time. Since he's torn his down too many times to count I felt much more secure with him adjusting them for me.

I'm just looking at other possibilities that I can possibly check before I have to turn to my more experienced friends. I hate imposing you know? Plus I get to learn but with this being my daily driver i'm limited on time to learn.

Not sure if it matters but I stuck with the stock 1.5 rockers.

I just did my install last weekend...I went with the method of turning crank over by hand as each cylinder got to TDC. Tightened down poly lock till pushrod almost quit spinning. Went 1/2 turn more, tightened down allen in polylock and then turned entire nut another 1/8 or so. No problems here. I went with the Comp Cams XE224/230 and 1.6 rr's. One thing to note: I did try starting it on the stock tune....and it did fire and run....but not very good at all......put in the tune I ordered from pcmforless and all the problems went away....car runs great. I'd try re-adjusting your rockers and look toward a tune ( of course you first MUST make sure all wires are on right and your opti is good).

I got it.

Somehow I had #6 & #8 crossed at the opti.

No more frosty beverages for me while working on cars.
