Cam install prices..What are you paying?

OK first of I cant do this myself because I will screw something up severely. So I am curious as to how much you are paying to have a cam installed with RR's?

SpeedInc wants $700 for the install and $400 for a dyno-tune. It really sucks A$$ when the install and tune cost more than the parts!!!

well it really does suck to pay someone, the place I caled wanted 800 bucks. The thing I don't like is they can always charge more for instance if three exhaust manifold bolts break off in the block, they will surely charge more. A buddy of mine had a tune done, some years back and ended up paying 900 dollars, they did more work and labor, but still it was jacked up there. I think with so many cam swaps you'll be OK. You could always save some money on the tune by getting a mail order one. I will not get a dyno tune until I know I am done with modifications cause it cost to much compared to mail order. The install is actually pretty easy, but sometimes its better to pay and make sure its not wrong. Maybe another car crafter in the area could give you a hand for cheaper, there's got to be some board members near you that might be willing. At any rate I would say the going rate is around 700-900 bucks, I've heard cheaper so just call everywhere, even if you must go farther out, it might be worth your time

Down here in texas a local sppedshop chain charges 500 for an install of a cam kit. They have it in and out in a couple of days. If you are interested here is their website (http://www.theimarketplace.com/Speed...on=customintro). They do good work.

I could've gone to a few places but I went to a place what was like $1000. Like I said, I could've got it done for like $700, maybe cheaper. However I decided to go to one of the best shops in MA (plug: New England Dyno) and pay a little more because I knew the job would be done right.....

I just had a guy put in the lt4 hotcam kit, headers, 3"cut out, and thinner head gaskets (yeah pulled the heads off), all for 500 bucks!! He looks for business too. And he put my heads together, RR, valves, springs, etc.

Go to www.LT1dave.com and give him an email if you are serious.

I saw him swap a ls1 into a v6 car in 1 day

He has done numerous cams in these cars and should be able to knock it out in under 10 hours. Good cheap work.
