Cam Dowl Question

Putting My New Opti On My New 383 Build Up (first Time) My Machine Shop Told Me When Installing Opti Not To Force On I Can Tap Dowl In Little By Little To Opti Fits Flush To Front Cover. Is It Poss To Tap In To Far (my Is Sticking Out About A 1/8 Inch Past Cam Bolts Now And Opti Fits Perfect. Is That A Timming Refrence And Bolts Actually Run Opti Or Does The Dowl Spin The Opti. Thanks In Advance For All Help

Also This Is A 97 Vented Opti

The dowel pin turns the opti. If not sticking out far enough, it's not going to work. You need to measure the length of the pin from the face of the cam. It should be in the .620-.685 range. My stock cam's pin was .650".

BTW, why do you capitalize every word? It makes it hard to read.

how do i measure the length of the dowl. what tool do i use? what if it is
in to far how do i pull it out?

ttt measured dowl and it in to far 3.05 only sticking out from face of cam how can i pull it out
