small cams are not a big deal either, more exotic stuff needs to be done right......and everything checked. One of the reasons you and a buddy have the same cam but he is faster....details

I am not arguing that degreeing is not the best way to do it, it is. That said, there are thousands more people out there with non-degreed than degreed cams in their engines. Factoring in the inherent slack in the LT1 timing chain, a tiny bit of cam offset is not going to be very meaningful. However, the only way to surely know what you have is to degree it.

O.K. here is my update. I ran through this a few times.

Round #1
Intake open 1.5 degrees higher than spec @.050 BTDC
Intake centerline 1.5 higher than spec
Intake closed 1.0 degrees lower than spec @.050 ABDC

Round #2
( I found TDC again before setting up the dial indicator BTW)

same as round # one except .5 degree lower on the intake closed @.050

I went ahead and checked the exhaust and readings were dead on.

something dont sound right if your exhaust is dead on and the intake is off.

thanks javier for the input on the keyway. As good as your car runs I'll definately take advice from you anyday.

That's within the margin of error.
It isn't off that much and hard to get it in spect from there without a new cam. Card may be wrong too.
If it bugs ya return it to the manufacturer.
Don't worry about the @50 until ya get the advertised correct.

I have only been checking at .050 method and also centerline method so far. What do you mean by getting the advertised correct?

I am not really worried about the small 1.5 degree variance that I got either. I believe that if it did have any effect that it would add hp up top.

Seat timing/advertised duration.
