Cam choice.

I want a cam that will make a solid 390 rwhp on LE2 heads. I don't want to rev it past 6200 rpms because I will be putting a 100-125 shot of N20 on top of this. This will be on a stock bottom end, Built A4, 2800 rpm stall, 1 3/4 headers, 58 mm TB, CAI, and Electirc water pump. I was leaning towards the XE 230/236, but I would also like some input on this from other members. Maybe you could suggest a cam that has a fatter power curve because it won't be revved to the moon.

Re: Cam choice.

Why not just use the LE1 cam, that should get you pretty close if no there with the LE2 heads.

Im not sure a stock bottom end will support 500+hp

Re: Cam choice.

At 23k, that's pretty low on the abuse scale for the bottom end.
Unless they came via Roadracing.
Take care of that valvetrain when swapping cams and that's the best you can do for the motor without teraing the shortblock down.
Lloyd's cam will probably get you there or you can run that 230/236 on a 114 LSA to get you what you're looking for.

The motor is in excelent condition, it has had regular maintanence since day 1, and I know the previouse owner of the car. I'm seeing how far I can push the stock block. It won't be too upset if it breaks because I am bringing it on myself. The car has seen no roadracing use either, only a couple runs down the 1/4 (less than 10). Does anyone have a graph on the LE1 cam or the specs? What the powerband is like?

Re: Cam choice.

I would email llyod about this, he is quick to reply, and if you ask him nice he may give out the specs.

Re: Cam choice.

very doubtful you will break the block

why are you wanting an off the shelf cam when Lloyd can hook you up with a cam that will be better suited too the all around needs/wants

I agree with asking Lloyd about a cam choice. It can be tailored to your needs.

I doubt anyone can ask nicely enough, however, to get exact specs.

For more information:

This thread gives a lot of information about a similar setup, as well as what may happen when you get generous with nitrous.(near the end of page 2)
