cam bearings

I have quick ? A cousin of mine desied to put my cam in for me this weekend (while I was gone). He knows what he is doing well I thought he did.So when I got home I pulled the cam out (hotcam) because I sold it.It looked to me as if there was some scratches on the front cam bearing so do I take my chances on these new cam bearrings or have some new ones put in? Motor is out for a rebuild.

Can you feel them with your fingernail? If so, new bearings are in order. If they aren't deep enough to feel, you are ok.

If the motor is going to be re-built, replace the bearings, otherwise +1 for Rich.
