No cam assembly lube in my hotcam kit either. So I went to NAPA and bought some. $6, more than enough.

Assembly lube goes on parts that rub together. It's needed on flat tappet lifters but we have rollers so CompCams recommends oil on the cam.

Comp Cams and Crane Cams recommend oil just on the bearing journals and assembly lube on the lobes and oil pump drive gear. Most people just put assembly lube on every thing so it doesn't drip off. But to each their own.

you guys act like it is a big deal to use oil. oil is fine, its not gonna hurt anything. Roller cams arent gonna wear much. hell i dont even remember if even put any lube on my cam into my new motor. Maybe al ight coating of oil, but thats it.

My bro drove in and got some Lunati lube for me. I really thought it was supposed to be included with every comp cam though. Oh well.

What's said above is true. Assembly lube is only needed when parts need to be broken in. A roller cam and lifters don't need to be. I used good ol' Pennzoil 10 W 30.

Everyone grab their beer of choice and have one with me, i'm done for the night.

I worked 1-8 sat and 10am-1230am today. The cam is in, vavle springs changed, CSI in the housing. I still need to put the intake back on, adjust the rockers, wire the csi, then fire er UP! Might take off of work tuesday to try to wrap it up.

I would use the lube or STP oil treatment....you need something that will adhere better than regular motor oil IMO.
