You need to give us basic data about the car.... how do you expect us to pick a cam, without knowing if it's a Gen 1 SBC, and LTx or an LSx? What heads are you using? What do they flow? How important is driveability?

stock heads/383....few off the shelf cams can pass smog WITH the right tune. Lloyd Elliott may yield better results with his cams vs off the shelf. something in the 218/224 range and a good tune should pass.
I have a small Comp 466 cam in my 383 and it passes easily...but again the tune has a great deal to do with that.
